Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Prepare agreements with regional authorities and draft detailed workplans.
  2. Develop procurement and expenditure plans in the financial management system (PREPPY).
  3. Coordinate with MEAL manager to prepare monitoring and evaluation plans.
  4. Consolidate and review Terms of Reference (ToRs) for project activities.
  5. Approve movement plans and weekly activity orders with logistics teams.
  6. Submit consolidated monthly activity plans to the Head of Program.
  7. Participate in coordination meetings at local and regional levels.
  8. Evaluate staff performance annually and provide managerial support.
  9. Manage project implementation, organize monitoring visits, and supervise contractors.
  10. Lead baseline, midterm, and endline surveys, ensuring proper data collection and reporting.
  11. Prepare monthly reports, donor reports, and financial submissions.
  12. Coordinate donor visits, external meetings, and technical working groups.
  13. Contribute to drafting new project proposals and innovative interventions.
  14. Support information collection from local partners, NGOs, and communities.

Required Qualifications

  1. Academic degree in Tourism Management, Development Studies, Project Management, Economics, Environmental Studies, Cultural Heritage Management, or related fields.
  2. Professional certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) is an advantage.
  3. Training in sustainable tourism, eco‑tourism, or community‑based tourism is desirable.

Required Work Experience

  1. Master’s degree holders: 3–5 years; Bachelor’s degree holders: 5–7 years in project management.
  2. Minimum 3 years of demonstrated project management experience.
  3. Proven experience managing donor‑funded projects (AICS, UN agencies, EU, ECHO, CERF).
  4. Experience coordinating with government, private sector, and community stakeholders.
  5. Strong background in budget management, reporting, and team supervision.
  6. Experience in MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning) is desirable.
  7. Fluency in English, Amharic, and Afan Oromo.

Required Technical Skills

  1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  2. Strong project planning, implementation, and coordination skills.
  3. Knowledge of sustainable tourism, eco‑tourism, and value‑chain development.
  4. Financial management, budgeting, and expenditure tracking.
  5. Proposal development and donor reporting skills.
  6. GIS and tourism mapping knowledge.
  7. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
