Development Bank of Ethiopia (DBE) is inviting qualified legal professionals to apply for an Individual Legal Advisor engagement based at its head office in Addis Ababa. The opportunity is intended for an experienced legal professional with expertise in international financing, development finance transactions, and related legal matters.

Engagement: Retainer and/or assignment-based

Required Educational Qualification and Experience

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Minimum LL.B. degree or equivalent in International Law, Banking Law, Commercial Law, Finance Law, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in English-law-governed financing agreements.
• Membership in a recognized Bar is required; qualification to practice English law is highly preferred.
• Experience in international project finance, with a proven track record involving Development Finance Institution (DFI) or multilateral bank transactions.
• Experience with inter-creditor arrangements.
• Experience in security enforcement and post-enforcement processes.

Core Competencies

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

• Strong legal drafting and analytical skills.
• Experience working with development finance institutions or multilateral banks is an advantage.
• A proven track record in dispute resolution under international legal frameworks.

Mode of Engagement

The engagement will be structured as:

• Retainer-based and/or assignment-based work.
• A combination of remote legal advisory services and on-demand in-person support when required.

Contract Duration

The initial contract period is 6 to 12 months, with the possibility of early termination or extension depending on performance and organizational requirements.
