Job Summary
DRC is seeking a MEAL Assistant to support monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities across programmes in Assosa. The role strengthens MEAL systems, ensures data quality, supports community feedback mechanisms, and contributes to evidence‑based programming.

Key Responsibilities
MEAL Capacities & Commitments
- Follow data protection protocols and ethical standards.
- Support capacity building and training for programme and field staff.
- Strengthen MEAL engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
Results Monitoring & Programme Quality
- Support Project Cycle Management (kick‑off, review, close‑out).
- Implement MEAL plans, indicator tracking tools, and monitoring systems.
- Conduct field‑level data collection and monitoring visits.
- Apply ethical principles and follow protection referral protocols.
- Ensure proper data protection, storage, and sharing.
- Support analysis and reporting of qualitative and quantitative MEAL data.
- Assist programme teams and grants management in MEAL deliverables.
Accountability
- Support community engagement and feedback mechanisms.
- Assist in implementing DRC’s Community Feedback Mechanism.
- Register, follow up, and process complaints safely and confidentially.
Evaluation, Analysis & Learning
- Support data gathering for evaluations.
- Share MEAL findings and learning with supervisors.
- Participate in internal and external evaluations.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Area Manager or MEAL Specialist.
Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum 1 year experience with NGOs in the humanitarian sector.
- Ability to collect data and ensure data quality.
- Strong understanding of ethical principles and MEAL standards.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; general data literacy.
- Critical thinking and willingness to learn data collection software.
- Good communication skills.
- Fluency in local languages (Berta, Gumuz, Amharic, Oromo, Shinasha, Arabic).
Desirable
- Experience with DRC core sectors.
- Experience as an enumerator or community‑based data collector.
- Experience working in insecure environments.
- Familiarity with Kobo Toolbox, ODK, or similar tools.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Statistics, Economics, Public Health, or related field.
Languages
- Excellent English (speaking, reading, writing).
- Strong skills in Berta, Gumuz, Amharic, Oromo, Shinasha, or Arabic are an asset.
