About MSD

Mahibere Hiwot for Social Development (MSD) is a non-profit, civic society organization established in 1999 to combat HIV/AIDS and support community socio-economic development. MSD works in HIV prevention, care and support, Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC) care, Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Family Planning (FP), Gender-Based Violence (GBV), migration, child protection, and environmental protection. MSD is a child-safe organization committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

Job Summary

The Education Officer will plan, organize, and coordinate child protection education activities within the CP project in internally displaced persons (IDP) sites. This role involves developing implementation plans, monitoring progress, ensuring safeguarding measures, and supporting social service workers.

Key Responsibilities

Program Planning & Implementation

  • Lead and coordinate child protection education activities at IDP sites.
  • Monitor project execution to ensure alignment with objectives and timelines.
  • Build the capacity of social service workers and volunteers.
  • Implement safeguarding and PSEA standards.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Develop and execute monitoring and evaluation plans.
  • Conduct regular project reviews with stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate project data and prepare timely reports.

Coordination & Support

  • Mentor and coach social workers/community workers.
  • Foster teamwork and effective communication among project staff.

Qualifications

  • Education: BA/BSc or MA/MSc in Pedagogy, Psychology, Social Work, Project Management, or related fields.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years (Master’s) or 4 years (Bachelor’s) relevant experience.
  • Experience in child protection, emergency, and IDP settings preferred.
  • NGO experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong skills in communication, coordination, report writing, and Microsoft Office.
