Working Hours: 44 hours per week (flexibility required for evenings, weekends, and official events)

About the Embassy of Sweden

The Embassy of Sweden in Addis Ababa manages Sweden’s relations with Ethiopia, Djibouti, South Sudan, the African Union (AU), IGAD, and UNECA. The Embassy operates across five sections: Political and Multilateral Affairs, Promotion and Public Diplomacy, Bilateral Development Cooperation, Regional Development Cooperation, and Migration/Administrative/Consular Services.

Key thematic areas include environment and climate change, democracy and human rights, migration and development, inclusive economic growth, and peaceful societies. The Embassy partners with the AU, AfDB, regional economic communities, and civil society organizations to advance these priorities.


Position: Head Chef for the Swedish Residence

Qualifications & Experience

  • Formal culinary education or equivalent professional experience
  • Proven experience in fine dining, luxury hotels, or private residences
  • Excellent knowledge of international cuisines and culinary trends
  • Experience managing kitchen operations and supervising staff
  • Strong background in budgeting, purchasing, and inventory management
  • Flexibility with working hours
  • Proficiency in English and Amharic
  • Valid residence permit (if applicable)

Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Passion for culinary arts and food innovation
  • Valid driver’s license (minimum Category B)
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver exceptional results
  • High integrity, discretion, and professionalism

Merit

  • Knowledge of or interest in Swedish & Scandinavian cuisine
