Job Summary

The Sous Chef‑Junior is an entry‑level management position focused on achieving daily kitchen objectives. Candidate Profile

  • Education & Experience:
    • High school diploma or GED with 4 years of culinary/food & beverage experience OR
    • 2‑year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel & Restaurant Management, or related major with 2 years of experience

Core Work Activities

Ensuring Culinary Standards

  • Maintain food handling and sanitation standards
  • Oversee production and preparation of culinary items
  • Supervise and coordinate cooks and kitchen staff
  • Check quality of raw and cooked food products
  • Assist in food presentation and decorative displays

Supporting Culinary Team

  • Supervise daily shift operations
  • Ensure staff have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms
  • Handle employee questions and concerns
  • Conduct training and performance appraisals
  • Monitor progress toward performance expectations

Maintaining Culinary Goals

  • Participate in department meetings
  • Support new menus, concepts, and promotions

Providing Exceptional Customer Service

  • Set a positive example for guest relations
  • Handle guest complaints professionally
  • Empower employees to deliver excellent service

Additional Responsibilities

  • Report equipment malfunctions
  • Manage food and supply inventories within budget
