About the Young Professionals Program
The ESX Young Professionals Program is a one-year, full-time, on-the-job training initiative designed to help recent graduates develop practical knowledge, technical skills, and professional experience in Ethiopia's capital markets. Participants will gain exposure to financial market infrastructure, securities instruments, exchange operations, financial analysis, and regulatory environments.
The program aims to develop analytical and quantitative skills, promote leadership and ethical standards, and prepare participants for potential career opportunities across the capital market ecosystem, including financial institutions, investment banks, brokerage firms, and regulatory bodies.
Important: The program is non-renewable and does not guarantee permanent employment with ESX or its partners after completion.
Key Responsibilities
Selected participants may be assigned to different departments or projects within the Ethiopian Securities Exchange. Responsibilities may include:
- Conducting economic and financial market research.
- Performing financial analysis, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Supporting securities listing and trading operations.
- Contributing to the development of regulatory and operational frameworks.
- Preparing reports, presentations, and policy briefs.
- Supporting stakeholder engagement and investor education initiatives.
- Assisting in the development of analytical models and dashboards.
- Participating in project management activities and tracking project milestones.
- Coordinating tasks and supporting timely completion of assigned projects.
- Collaborating with teams across business development, operations, and other departments.
- Participating in training activities to strengthen financial and business knowledge.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Educational Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree completed within the last two years in Accounting and Finance, Economics, Law, a business-related field, or another closely related discipline.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.
- Female applicants may qualify with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00.
- Recent graduates with up to two years of related work experience are eligible.
Analytical and Technical Skills
- Strong analytical thinking and numerical proficiency.
- Ability to interpret data and support financial and business analysis.
- Interest in financial markets and capital market development.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English and Amharic.
- Knowledge of additional Ethiopian languages is an advantage.
Additional Competencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse teams.
- Good coordination, networking, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to deliver quality work within deadlines.
- Interest or academic exposure to Islamic finance, including Sharia-compliant securities, is an advantage.
