In Ethiopia, FHI 360’s Crisis Response program, in partnership with Pastoralist Concern (PC), supports conflict-affected and vulnerable communities with lifesaving humanitarian services.


Job Summary

The Health & Nutrition Assistant will play a vital role in supporting nutrition and health activities at the community level. Working under the supervision of the Health & Nutrition Officer, the assistant will be directly involved in:

  • Malnutrition screening, referral, and case management
  • Anthropometric assessments and nutrition counseling
  • Inpatient and outpatient treatment support
  • Growth monitoring, reporting, and follow-ups
  • Hygiene promotion and safe food storage
  • Support to mobile health units and static facilities

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Admit and follow up on severe malnutrition cases
  • Conduct home visits to ensure treatment compliance
  • Update and monitor child health cards
  • Prepare and submit timely nutrition and health reports
  • Assist in training, capacity-building, and awareness creation
  • Support data collection, archiving, and documentation
  • Provide administrative and logistics support to the Health & Nutrition team

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health, Nutrition, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience (preferably with NGOs)
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition and primary healthcare
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
