1. Dryland Agriculture Advisor

Location: Jigjiga
Sector: Agriculture

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert technical support and advisory services on dryland agricultural production systems to enhance food security and resilience.
  • Develop and implement context-specific agricultural strategies suitable for arid and semi-arid zones.
  • Promote innovative and climate-resilient farming techniques, including drought-resistant crop varieties and water conservation measures.
  • Lead capacity building initiatives targeting farmers, agricultural extension workers, and local government representatives to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Foster collaboration among local communities, governmental agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to maximize program impact.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor project implementation, collect data, and assess progress against set targets.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, policy briefs, and presentations for internal and external audiences.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of practical experience working on dryland or rainfed agriculture projects.
  • Proven expertise in sustainable agriculture practices, climate-smart agriculture, and natural resource management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government agencies, NGOs, and community-based organizations.
  • Excellent facilitation and training skills with a track record of delivering capacity building activities.
  • Strong analytical, report writing, and communication skills in English.
  • Ability to operate independently in challenging and remote field environments.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of local languages (e.g., Somali, Afar) is highly desirable.

2. Advisor (Agriculture)

Location: Addis Ababa
Sector: Agriculture

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level technical and strategic guidance on agricultural development policies, programs, and interventions.
  • Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of sustainable agriculture projects aimed at improving productivity and livelihoods.
  • Facilitate engagement and coordination with government ministries, donors, private sector, and civil society actors to strengthen agricultural value chains.
  • Integrate climate change adaptation, gender equality, and youth inclusion into agricultural programming.
  • Conduct rigorous needs assessments and baseline surveys to inform project design.
  • Organize and lead stakeholder workshops, training sessions, and learning events to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Produce high-quality analytical reports, policy briefs, and presentations to influence policy and decision-making processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Agricultural Economics, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in agricultural advisory roles, preferably within international development or donor-funded projects.
  • Strong understanding of agricultural policy frameworks, program management, and value chain development.
  • Experience with climate-smart agriculture, market systems development, and participatory approaches.
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with proven report writing and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Amharic or other Ethiopian local languages is an advantage.

3. Receptionist (Maternity Cover)

Location: Addis Ababa
Sector: Business and Administration

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors and clients, providing a welcoming and professional environment.
  • Manage incoming telephone calls, emails, and mail, ensuring timely and appropriate responses or routing.
  • Maintain appointment schedules, coordinate meeting room bookings, and support event logistics.
  • Assist with general administrative duties including filing, photocopying, and managing office supplies inventory.
  • Ensure confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Support office operations to ensure smooth workflow during maternity leave coverage.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external partners as required.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Office Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a receptionist or in an administrative support role, preferably in an international organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Professional appearance and courteous manner.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure.
  • Fluency in English and Amharic is preferred.

4. Driver

Location: Arba Minch
Sector: Logistics, Transport and Supply Chain

Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe and punctual transportation services for GIZ staff, visitors, and official cargo.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good working condition of assigned vehicles, arranging for regular servicing and repairs.
  • Comply strictly with traffic rules, safety policies, and organizational procedures.
  • Assist in loading/unloading and secure transportation of goods and equipment.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date vehicle logs, mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance records.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or vehicle defects promptly to management.
  • Support other logistical tasks as assigned by the transport coordinator.

Requirements:

  • Valid professional driving license with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum 3 years’ professional driving experience, ideally with an international NGO or private sector organization.
  • Knowledge of local roads and driving conditions in and around Arba Minch.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a high sense of responsibility.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills to complete logbooks and reports.
  • Fluency in local languages and good communication skills.

5. Advisor Organizational Development (Agriculture)

Location: Assosa
Sector: Agriculture

Responsibilities:

  • Lead organizational development initiatives aimed at strengthening agricultural institutions and partners.
  • Design and facilitate capacity building and leadership development workshops.
  • Support institutional governance, change management, and strategic planning processes.
  • Assist teams in improving operational efficiency and fostering collaborative work environments.
  • Conduct organizational assessments and develop tailored interventions.
  • Foster learning and knowledge sharing among partner organizations and stakeholders.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation on organizational development activities and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Organizational Development, Business Administration, Agriculture, or related fields.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in organizational development, preferably within agricultural or development contexts.
  • Demonstrated skills in facilitation, coaching, and capacity building for diverse teams.
  • Experience working with multi-sectoral stakeholders and in multicultural settings.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and foster partnerships.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of local languages is beneficial.
