The GIZ African Union Office, headquartered in Addis Ababa, provides services in procurement, financial management, HR, communication, portfolio management, and operational support to AU programmes and projects across 40+ member states.


Position: Intern – Portfolio Management & Communication

Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Draft, edit, and design social media posts, newsletters, and communication products.
  • Data Management: Maintain contact lists, portfolio information, and communication materials.
  • Research & Analysis: Prepare briefs, presentations, and reports on AU‑related topics.
  • Event Support: Provide logistical and conceptual support for workshops, events, and meetings.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with routine office tasks and team coordination.

Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop is an advantage.


Qualifications

  • Fresh graduates (within the last 6 months) with a degree in International Relations, Political Science, Communications, African Studies, or related fields.
  • Strong interest in AU policies or international development is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in English (knowledge of other AU languages is an advantage).
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and synthesize complex information.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Team player with proactive and resourceful mindset.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) is desirable.
