Organizational Overview

In Ethiopia, FHI 360โs Crisis Response team supports humanitarian emergencies in Tigray, Amhara, Afar, Somali, and Oromia regions. The program, implemented in partnership with Pastoralist Concern (PC), focuses on delivering life-saving Health, Nutrition, WASH, and Protection services to conflict-affected communities.
Position Overview
The Health & Nutrition Officer will support the start-up and implementation of health and nutrition programs in East Borena, Oromia. Reporting to the Senior Health & Nutrition Officer, this role ensures program quality, adherence to international standards, and technical support to community health workers and facilities.
Key Responsibilities

Implement IMNCI, BEmONC, CMAM, and nutrition/medical protocols at health facilities (SC/OTP/PHC).

Oversee PHC, OTP/SC, and IYCF program implementation and ensure quality.

Train health extension workers (HEWs) and community volunteers in IMNCI, RH, OTP, and IYCF.

Monitor RUTF and drug supplies for OTP/SC and support supplementary feeding programs (SFP).

Support outreach programs, track absentees/defaulters, and follow up on referred cases.

Supervise facility sanitation, supply management, and service quality.
-
Mentor HEWs on reporting and recording of PHC/OTP data.

Contribute to monthly reports, capacity building, and integration with government structures (DPPO and MoH).

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelorโs degree in Nursing, Public Health, or a related field.

Experience:
-
Minimum 3โ5 years of field experience in humanitarian health and nutrition programs.
-
Strong background in IMNCI, CMAM/OTP/SC, IYCF, and reproductive health.
-
Previous NGO experience in emergency health/nutrition programming.

Knowledge of international health and nutrition standards in emergencies.
-
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Willingness to work in hardship environments with cultural and gender sensitivity.

Fluency in English and local language.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management tools.
