In Ethiopia, FHI 360’s Crisis Response team has been delivering emergency programs in Tigray, Amhara, Afar, Somali, and Oromia regions, focusing on Health, Nutrition, WASH, and Protection.


πŸ“Œ Position Overview

The Health & Nutrition Team Leader will be responsible for the leadership and technical oversight of health and nutrition activities under the ISHI-E-III project in Negele Borena, Oromia Region.

Reporting to the Deputy Response Coordinator, this role ensures effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and coordination of health and nutrition programs for conflict-affected populations. The Team Leader will work closely with government stakeholders, health facilities, cluster partners, and local NGOs to deliver quality humanitarian response services.


πŸ”‘ Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of primary health care, community health, reproductive health, and nutrition programs.
  • Organize and oversee medical outreach activities in target areas.
  • Conduct health and nutrition assessments and define FHI 360’s areas of operation.
  • Monitor progress against project goals and ensure activities meet deadlines and standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and develop emergency response strategies.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, NGOs, and international partners, including active participation in Health & Nutrition Cluster meetings.
  • Manage pharmaceutical and medical commodity procurement in line with FHI 360 protocols.
  • Collaborate with WASH and Protection teams for integrated humanitarian response.
  • Manage budgets, staff recruitment, and personnel capacity building.
  • Support resource mobilization efforts through proposal and concept note development.
  • Ensure adherence to FHI 360 guidelines, national health protocols, and donor standards.

πŸŽ“ Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in health and nutrition program management in humanitarian settings.
  • Strong background in public health and emergency nutrition interventions.
  • Experience in conducting SMART, SQUEAC, and outcome monitoring assessments.
  • Proven ability to coordinate complex health programs with multiple stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with OFDA/BHA and UN donor requirements.
  • Prior experience in NGO/INGO humanitarian projects (international experience desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills in English and local languages.
  • Strong computer literacy (MS Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, Zoom, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
