The World Food Programme (WFP) is recruiting for the position of IT Operations Assistant (Digital Assistance Services) in Jijiga, Somali Region, Ethiopia. Job Overview

Position: IT Operations Assistant (Digital Assistance Services)
Employment Type: Full‑time, Regular Assignment
Duty Station: Jijiga, Somali Region, Ethiopia

The IT Operations Assistant will report to the Head of Unit, Chief, or IT Officer. The role involves providing technical support, system and data maintenance, and ensuring effective IT services for WFP staff.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out system monitoring, diagnostics, and optimization.
  • Maintain IT equipment through repairs, configuration, and secure storage.
  • Prepare files and systems for inventory and archives.
  • Allocate tasks to colleagues and ensure timely delivery.
  • Respond to staff queries about technology and systems.
  • Provide training to end users on IT systems.
  • Deploy server hardware and software, including testing.
  • Maintain records, update web pages, and manage databases.
  • Install and maintain telecommunications systems.
  • Support development of training materials and web content.
  • Suggest improvements to IT processes and methods.
  • Follow emergency response procedures to support food assistance operations.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Completion of secondary school education (required).
  • Post‑secondary certificate in IT or related field (desirable).

Work Experience

  • Experience resolving technical issues.
  • Experience defining requirements with unit heads.
  • Experience applying client service standards.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of IT systems, diagnostics, and maintenance.
  • Ability to manage telecommunications systems.
  • Familiarity with inventory and database management.

Languages

  • Fluency in English (required).
  • Fluency in the UN language used at the duty station and local language (required).
