IT Support Officer – British Embassy, Addis Ababa (Contract, 2026)

Job Overview

The IT Support Officer is responsible for providing IT support services within the British Embassy in Addis Ababa. The role includes assisting staff with IT-related issues and offering technical guidance. The post holder reports to the IT Manager and collaborates with the Corporate Services Team. Employment type: Contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day IT support for Embassy staff, including end-user assistance.
  • Maintain and monitor IT infrastructure, including networking, cloud systems, and Microsoft services (Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, Exchange/Outlook).
  • Support IT security protocols and structured cabling systems.
  • Manage IT inventory and locally administered systems.
  • Offer guidance on IT-related issues to ensure service continuity and quality.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in IT infrastructure and support services.
  • Experience providing end-user support and working with Microsoft cloud and Office 365 environments.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Exchange/Outlook, Teams, SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of IT security principles and structured cabling.
  • Networking and IT infrastructure competency.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
  • Effective communication in English and Amharic.

Preferred / Additional Qualifications

  • Familiarity with AI or business intelligence tools.
  • Experience in IT inventory management.
  • Valid driving license.
