The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a Logistics Officer (Maternity Cover) to support day‑to‑day implementation of logistics functions in Assosa, Ethiopia. The role ensures compliance, efficiency, and transparency in procurement, fleet, and warehouse management to meet operational needs in a humanitarian context.


Position: Logistics Officer (Maternity Cover)

Responsibilities

Generic Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with NRC logistics, procurement, fleet, and warehouse policies.
  • Support planning, coordination, and implementation of logistics activities.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting systems.
  • Promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency in logistics processes.
  • Coordinate with program teams and support departments for timely service delivery.
  • Identify operational risks and propose improvements.
  • Uphold safety, security, and safeguarding standards.
  • Contribute to capacity building and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure proper asset care and responsible resource use.
  • Perform other logistics‑related duties as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Procurement: Manage procurement processes, prepare requisitions, RFQs, ITBs, RFPs, bid analysis, purchase orders, and contracts. Ensure transparent and compliant practices, conduct market assessments, and maintain supplier databases.
  • Fleet Management: Oversee daily fleet operations, vehicle allocation, scheduling, fuel consumption, mileage, and maintenance. Ensure valid insurance and documentation, promote safe driving, and supervise drivers.
  • Store Management: Handle goods receipts, storage, and documentation. Maintain organized storage areas, report stock balances weekly/monthly/quarterly, conduct reconciliations, and report obsolete or damaged items. Perform periodic inventory control as per NRC policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or related fields
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Logistics Assistant or similar role
  • Experience in humanitarian/recovery contexts, preferably in complex and volatile environments
  • Documented results related to logistics responsibilities
  • Fluency in oral and written English and Amharic; knowledge of additional local languages is an advantage
