About Ohio State Global One Health Initiative

Ohio State Global One Health Initiative connects The Ohio State University with partners in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Brazil, Thailand, China, India, and other locations through a coordinated multidisciplinary approach to global health.

In Ethiopia, Ohio State Global One Health works on global health security-related projects focused on rapid response to public health emergencies, laboratory capacity, disease surveillance, and One Health workforce strengthening through education, training, and research.

The initiative works with the Federal Ministry of Health, Ethiopian Public Health Institute, Regional Health Bureaus, universities, and other research institutions in Ethiopia.

Available Positions

1. Accountant

The Accountant position requires experience in accounting, finance, and administrative operations, including financial transaction processing, recordkeeping, reconciliations, and compliance-related activities.

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.

Experience:

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, and administrative operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in transaction processing, financial recordkeeping, reconciliations, and compliance-related activities.
  • Experience with donor-funded projects, international organizations, NGOs, or research institutions is an advantage.

2. Field Epidemiologist

The Field Epidemiologist position focuses on disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, public health emergency response, and epidemiological activities.

Educational Qualification:

  • Master's degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Veterinary Epidemiology, Biostatistics, One Health, or a related field from a recognized academic institution.

Preferred Training and Certifications:

  • Intermediate or Advanced Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) training is highly desirable.
  • Additional training or certification in disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, public health emergency management, health information systems, or data analysis is an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, public health emergency response, or related public health programs.
  • Demonstrated experience working with national public health surveillance systems, including data collection, reporting, monitoring, and coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of epidemiological methods and public health surveillance.

3. Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Officer

The IPC Officer position requires professional experience in infection prevention and control, healthcare quality improvement, or public health programs.

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing, Public Health, Medicine, Environmental Health, or a related field.

Preferred Training:

  • Formal training in Infection Prevention and Control is preferred.
  • Specialized training in outbreak management or infectious disease control is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience in IPC, healthcare quality improvement, or public health programs.
  • Experience training healthcare workers and developing IPC materials.
  • Experience working in healthcare facilities or public health institutions.
  • Experience participating in recent public health emergency preparedness and response efforts.

4. Medical Laboratory Technologist

The Medical Laboratory Technologist position requires professional experience in diagnostic or public health laboratories.

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Laboratory Sciences, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years and up to 10 years of relevant experience in diagnostic or public health laboratories.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience in laboratory quality management systems is desirable.
  • Experience in infectious disease testing and surveillance programs is an advantage.
