Through partnerships with local health institutions and international donors, Orbis implements the Trachoma SAFE strategy and other blindness prevention programs across Ethiopia.
Position: Field Coordinator – Bonga
Job Summary
The Field Coordinator will oversee the implementation of the END Fund‑supported trachoma backlog clearance project and coordinate activities related to the Trachoma SAFE strategy in South West Ethiopia. The role involves planning, supervising, and ensuring quality TT surgery services, while building strong partnerships with local health offices and community stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate TT backlog clearance and ensure delivery of high‑volume, quality TT surgery.
- Develop woreda‑based TT surgery plans and mobilize trained Integrated Eye Care Workers (IECWs).
- Conduct supportive supervision and quality assurance interventions.
- Organize review meetings with zonal and woreda health offices.
- Provide training for IECWs, case finders, health extension workers, and volunteers.
- Facilitate collaboration between Orbis, health institutions, and communities.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including case studies.
- Monitor resource utilization and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
- Oversee field office operations including HR, fleet, and financial compliance.
- Ensure safeguarding, security, and adherence to Orbis policies.
Qualifications & Experience
- MPH/B.Sc. in Public Health, Ophthalmic Officer, or related health fields.
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience, including at least 1 year in eye care program implementation.
- Experience in blindness prevention, trachoma, or preventive ophthalmology preferred.
- Knowledge of local language of the project area is an asset.

- Ability to lead diverse teams and foster collaboration.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, spreadsheets).
