About PATH and the REACH Malaria Project
PATH is a global nonprofit organization working to advance health equity. Through the REACH Malaria project, PATH provides implementation support and technical assistance for malaria prevention and case management activities.
The project supports areas including malaria diagnosis and treatment, malaria prevention during pregnancy, seasonal malaria chemoprevention, maternal and child health services, health data collection and use, and other malaria prevention interventions.
PATH Ethiopia REACH Malaria Vacancies
1. Regional Clinical Officer – South (b)
Location: South Ethiopia
Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD)
Experience: At least 5 years of clinical practice. Experience implementing malaria case management programs is an advantage.
Reports to: Regional Team Leader / Program Manager
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide mentorship and supportive supervision to health facility staff on malaria case management.
- Work with district health offices and the regional health bureau to plan and implement malaria case management support activities.
- Provide technical assistance for planning, implementing, and monitoring malaria diagnosis and case management interventions.
- Support the development and review of mentorship checklists, job aids, desktop references, and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct baseline assessments and follow-up support at health centers and health posts.
- Contribute to training and orientation materials and deliver onsite or offsite training as required.
- Support the distribution of malaria guidelines, manuals, job aids, and case management commodities.
- Assist with malaria case management quality assurance activities.
- Provide technical assistance for emergency preparedness, including malaria outbreaks and floods.
- Participate in regional technical working group meetings.
- Carry out other assigned responsibilities.
2. Regional Clinical Officer 3
Location: Jinka, South Ethiopia Region
Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD)
Experience: At least 2 years of clinical practice. Experience in malaria case management program implementation is an advantage.
Reports to: Chief of Party
The position supports malaria case management activities in and around Jinka. Responsibilities include providing technical mentorship and supportive supervision to health facilities, supporting malaria diagnosis and case management planning, assisting with assessments and quality assurance, contributing to training and orientation activities, and coordinating with relevant health authorities and technical working groups.
3. Regional Laboratory Officer
Location: Ethiopia; specific duty region not stated
Education: At least a Bachelor of Science degree in Laboratory Sciences
Experience: At least 5 years of recent professional experience in laboratory science. Experience implementing malaria laboratory programs is an advantage.
Main Responsibilities:
- Mentor facility laboratory personnel and regional and woreda malaria programs on malaria laboratory diagnosis and quality assurance.
- Train laboratory personnel and other health workers in malaria laboratory diagnosis, quality assurance, and integrated external quality assessment.
- Develop or review laboratory mentorship checklists, job aids, and SOPs.
- Support distribution of laboratory guidelines, manuals, SOPs, job aids, and commodities.
- Conduct baseline assessments and follow-up technical support for malaria laboratory diagnosis and quality assurance.
- Participate in regional laboratory technical working group meetings.
- Provide technical assistance for planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of malaria diagnosis and quality assurance activities.
- Support the design and implementation of malaria laboratory quality assurance activities.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual plans and reports.
- Perform other assigned duties.
4. Regional Data Quality Officers – 7 Positions
Duty Stations:
- Benishangul-Gumuz – 1 position
- South Ethiopia – 2 positions
- Southwest Ethiopia – 2 positions
- Oromia – 2 positions
Education: Bachelor's degree in health sciences or a related field. A master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience designing, implementing, and managing health monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) systems. Experience in malaria data quality assurance and mentorship is an advantage.
Required Skills:
- Strong data management and analytical capabilities.
- Experience with primary clinical data collection and development of data collection tools.
- Proficiency in ODK, KoboCollect, DHIS2 Android Capture, and the DHIS2 platform.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with SAS, SPSS, or Stata.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of local languages used in the duty station is an advantage.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support development and revision of the project's Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning plan.
- Provide mentorship to health facilities and regional and woreda malaria programs on data quality assurance.
- Support the distribution of data collection and reporting tools.
- Orient health workers and health extension workers on data quality, analysis, and use of information for decision-making.
- Support malaria data quality assurance design and implementation.
- Develop or revise mentorship tools, job aids, checklists, and SOPs.
- Conduct routine data quality assurance activities jointly with regional health bureaus.
- Collect, compile, analyze, and report project data.
- Monitor project milestones, deliverables, and key performance indicators.
- Provide feedback to health offices, health facilities, and technical teams.
- Support documentation, knowledge management, and sharing of lessons learned and good practices.
- Maintain working relationships with regional health bureaus, zonal health departments, woreda health offices, and implementing partners.
- Participate in regional technical working groups.
- Prepare periodic plans and reports, including ad hoc reports.

5. Program Officer
Location: Ethiopia; specific duty station not stated
Education: Degree in Accounting, Management, Business Administration, language studies, or another relevant field
Experience: At least 5 years
Languages: English and Amharic
Additional Experience: Experience working with international NGOs and donors such as DOS is preferred.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide program and administrative support to REACH Malaria activities.
- Compile and follow up on purchase requisitions.
- Monitor monthly and quarterly deliverables.
- Support processing of project agreements, subcontracts, and consultant agreements.
- Coordinate travel arrangements, advances, settlements, air tickets, vehicles, fuel advances, and reimbursements.
- Support documentation of project management lessons and good practices.
- Assist with project meetings, prepare minutes, and follow up on action points.
- Maintain organized physical and electronic project records and knowledge products.
- Represent the project at relevant coordination meetings and events when assigned.
- Coordinate international travel, accommodation, and related logistics.
- Facilitate transportation of project supplies to implementation sites.
- Maintain project asset records.
- Draft correspondence for donors, partners, and collaborators.

6. Operations and Logistics Support Officer
Location: Ethiopia; specific duty station not stated
Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience: At least 5 years in logistics, procurement, operations, or supply chain management
Languages: English and Amharic
Main Responsibilities:
- Coordinate transportation for staff, goods, and equipment with the PATH Ethiopia logistics team.
- Process fuel advances and liquidations and maintain relevant vehicle and fuel documentation.
- Monitor vehicle utilization, maintenance schedules, and fuel consumption.
- Maintain project stock records and asset registers.
- Support timely delivery and distribution of project supplies.
- Assist in operational planning and coordination.
- Provide operational and administrative support to offices and field sites.
- Coordinate meetings, workshops, and field travel.
- Ensure operational activities follow applicable policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
- Support supplier sourcing, quotation collection, purchase requests, and purchase orders.

7. Finance Associate

Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain organized physical and electronic financial records for audits and reconciliations.
- Label and file transaction documents, box files, and other financial records.
- Scan, copy, and archive financial documents, filings, and bank statements.
- Process and manage bank transfers.
- Carry out routine banking activities, including cash or check deposits and collection or delivery of banking documents.
- Collect bank transfer advice and file it with the relevant financial records.
- Assist with monitoring vendor invoices and bank advice.
- Respond to routine inquiries concerning bank transfers from staff and vendors.
- Retrieve financial files and supporting vouchers for internal and external audits.
- Perform general administrative tasks such as printing, photocopying, scanning, and binding.
- Organize financial documentation on a monthly basis.
- Follow up on payment processing and communicate with banking partners to help prevent transfer delays.
