Position Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant will support health and nutrition programming in East Borena, Oromia Region. Working under the supervision of the Senior Pharmaceutical Officer, the role focuses on managing pharmaceutical warehouses, ensuring proper drug storage and distribution, supporting health facilities, and strengthening pharmaceutical supply chain management in collaboration with the Regional Health Bureau.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage pharmaceutical and medical warehouses, ensuring hygiene, organization, and temperature control.
  • Receive, store, and distribute pharmaceuticals according to protocols.
  • Ensure proper management of cold chain, expired, or damaged products.
  • Maintain accurate records of receipt, storage, and dispatch of medical items.
  • Monitor consumption, stock levels, and provide monthly reports.
  • Travel to health facilities for supervision, training needs assessment, and data collection.
  • Coordinate with logistics to ensure timely procurement and distribution.
  • Support safety, compliance, and cost-efficiency in pharmaceutical management.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree in Pharmacy.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2+ years of experience as a pharmacist.
    • Prior experience with humanitarian organizations or donor-funded programs (USAID/BHA preferred).
  • Active professional registration as a licensed pharmacist in Ethiopia.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical databases and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in the local language and good working knowledge of English.
  • Willingness to travel and work in challenging field conditions.
