Position Summary

The Education Assistant will provide technical and operational support for the assessment and implementation of education activities under the UNICEF‑funded project. The role contributes to strengthening inclusive and safe learning environments across target woredas, improving enrolment (especially for girls and vulnerable children), and promoting effective teaching and learning practices.

Reports To: Project Manager
Grade: B2


Key Responsibilities

  • Support needs assessments, response analysis, and project planning.
  • Assist in implementing inclusive education activities in collaboration with teachers, school leaders, woreda education offices, and community structures.
  • Promote safe learning environments and gender‑responsive education practices.
  • Contribute to improved enrolment and retention of girls and vulnerable children.
  • Ensure quality service delivery aligned with organizational standards.
  • Prepare clear reports and documentation for project monitoring.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Community Development, Social Sciences, or related fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years supporting education projects (experience in emergency contexts preferred).

Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge of humanitarian programming and child protection principles.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and community engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to prepare clear reports and documentation.
