PxD works through three models: direct service delivery, improving partners’ services, and strategic government advisory. In Ethiopia, PxD collaborates with the Ministry of Agriculture to scale nationwide digital agriculture services.
Position: Digital Agriculture Associate
Role Purpose
The Digital Agriculture Associate will support the design, implementation, and refinement of digital agriculture services that leverage technology, data, and behavioral insights to improve outcomes for smallholder farmers.
Key Responsibilities
- Support design and deployment of digital advisory services (SMS, IVR, mobile apps, web platforms).
- Conduct user needs assessments, product evaluations, and field visits.
- Develop technical documentation, workflows, and SOPs.
- Evaluate digital platforms for API maturity and integration readiness.
- Translate agronomic knowledge into structured digital content and decision‑support tools.
- Collaborate with research and data teams to improve service design.
- Track project progress, document learnings, and support reporting.
- Engage stakeholders including government, partners, and field teams.
- Contribute to internal learning and knowledge sharing.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
- Experience in digital advisory services (SMS, IVR, mobile apps, web platforms).
- Background in digital agriculture, agritech, or technology‑enabled development projects.
- Understanding of Ethiopian agricultural systems and smallholder farming contexts.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to generate insights from data.
- Ability to translate agronomic/technical information into user‑friendly tools.
- Experience working with farmers, extension agents, or rural communities.
- Strong communication skills in English and Amharic.
