About the Role
SOS Children’s Villages is building a roster of qualified Protection Officers for upcoming projects. The Protection Officer will be responsible for implementing community-based protection activities, case management, psychosocial support, and building strong referral systems to safeguard children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, implement, and monitor protection activities aligned with project objectives and safeguarding policies.

Provide case management, counselling, and referral support for children and families at risk.

Strengthen community-based child protection networks and facilitate training for case workers, clubs, and community structures.

Document and report incidents, risks, and concerns in line with child protection procedures.

Conduct awareness sessions on child rights, gender equality, and safeguarding in schools and communities.

Collaborate with project teams, local authorities, NGOs, and community leaders to strengthen protection systems.

Promote children’s participation and empowerment to become agents of positive change.

Monitor and evaluate community protection activities and contribute to reporting and learning.
Job Requirements
Education:
-
BA degree in Social Work, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Human Rights, or related fields.
Experience:
-
Minimum 2 years of experience in child protection, gender, or safeguarding roles.

Experience with international NGOs or humanitarian/development programs.
-
Proven skills in community mobilization, case management, and training delivery.
-
Experience working with GBV survivors is an asset.
Core Competencies:

Strong knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and gender mainstreaming.

Excellent communication, counselling, and facilitation skills.

Ability to build trust and work with vulnerable families and communities.

Project management and monitoring & evaluation skills.
