About Industry Five

Industry Five is a vertically integrated electronics manufacturing company headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We specialize in the design, assembly, and quality assurance of advanced electronic devices for enterprise, government, and consumer brand clients operating in East Africa’s most dynamic markets.

Core Capabilities
With in-country manufacturing facilities and ISO-aligned production processes, Industry Five delivers full-spectrum contract manufacturing services—from prototype development to high-volume production—tailored for clients seeking supply chain resilience, local market alignment, and rigorous quality standards. Our end-to-end capabilities include SMT PCB assembly, final system integration, firmware loading, functional and environmental testing, and post-sales service infrastructure.

Markets Served

  • Enterprise Clients: Robust hardware platforms for telecommunications, banking, and logistics sectors requiring high reliability and secure local servicing.
  • Government Agencies: Ruggedized computing solutions and infrastructure-critical devices built to spec, supported with long-term service agreements and in-country parts availability.
  • Consumer Brands: Turnkey private-label electronics manufacturing with support for industrial design customization, regulatory compliance, and lifecycle management.

About the Opportunity

The Quality Analyst will ensure that products meet the company’s quality standards and regulatory requirements. The role involves inspecting materials, monitoring production processes, identifying defects, and recommending improvements to maintain high-quality output in a manufacturing environment.

The Quality Analyst is responsible for applying advanced statistical and data analytics techniques to monitor, measure, and optimize the performance and quality of Industry Five's electronics manufacturing processes. This role converts Quality Control data into actionable intelligence, driving continuous improvement, minimizing defects, and enhancing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) across the production floor.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of raw materials, in-process production, and finished products.
  • Perform quality tests using standard procedures and equipment.
  • Document and report quality issues, non-conformances, and deviations to management.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends and suggest process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards and other regulatory requirements applicable to the industry.
  • Assist in developing and updating quality control procedures and work instructions.
  • Participate in internal audits and support external audits as required.
  • Train production staff on quality standards and best practices.
  • Collect, clean, and model large datasets from various sources, including production lines, testing equipment (AOI, functional testers), and the Oracle ERP system.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts and control limits for key process parameters across SMT and final assembly.
  • Calculate, track, and report on critical operational metrics, with a strong focus on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), First Pass Yield (FPY), and cycle time analysis.
  • Proactively analyze quality and process data to detect variations, predict failure modes, and identify systemic weaknesses before they result in defects.
  • Lead complex root cause investigations for high-impact quality failures using methodologies like Six Sigma (DMAIC), FMEA, and advanced statistical tools.
  • Champion and execute process improvement projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to reduce scrap, rework, and manufacturing variability.
  • Conduct detailed Process Capability Studies to determine process stability and recommend tolerance adjustments or equipment upgrades.
  • Develop simple process models and simulations to evaluate the impact of proposed changes before full-scale implementation.
  • Develop and automate custom quality dashboards and reports for the Quality Director and cross-functional teams, visualizing key performance indicators (KPIs) in tools like Excel, Power BI, or similar software.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–4 years of experience in data analytics, process engineering, quality control, or quality assurance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), ISO standards, and GMP practices.
  • Analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using measurement and inspection tools.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and process documentation.

Competencies

  • Expert knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and Design of Experiments (DoE).
  • Advanced proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and SQL for querying data from ERP/database systems (e.g., Oracle).
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Process-oriented mindset.
  • Continuous improvement focus (Lean, Six Sigma knowledge is a plus).
  • Adaptability and time management.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health insurance.
  • Fast-paced environment that fosters technical skill development and career growth.
  • Opportunity to work at the forefront of African manufacturing excellence.
  • Supportive team culture that promotes work-life balance.
