Role Purpose
The Driver will provide safe, reliable, and efficient transport services to Save the Children staff, visitors, and materials. The role requires strict adherence to organizational and government traffic regulations, vehicle care and maintenance, and a strong commitment to child safeguarding principles.
This position is based in Dessie and reports directly to the Warehouse & Fleet Officer.
Key Responsibilities

Provide transport services for staff, visitors, and project materials.

Maintain vehicle cleanliness, fuel, lubrication, and servicing schedules.

Keep accurate records of logbooks, fuel consumption, repair costs, and trip details.

Conduct daily and weekly vehicle checks (oil, water, brakes, tire pressure, lights, etc.).

Report vehicle accidents, breakdowns, and repair needs promptly.

Park vehicles in safe and secure areas during and outside working hours.

Ensure seatbelt use and passenger safety at all times.

Perform minor vehicle maintenance and support repair follow-ups.

Follow Save the Children’s safety, security, and child safeguarding policies.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Completion of Grade 12 or Grade 10 (new curriculum).

Valid 3rd grade (or above) driving license.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a driver, preferably with an INGO or government organization, with a clean driving record.

Auto mechanic diploma or certificate (advantageous).

Basic computer literacy (advantageous).

Knowledge of vehicle maintenance.

Ability to work in challenging environments and during weekends or holidays if required.

Good communication skills in English and local languages.
