About Stichting Tiko
Tiko is an African non-profit organisation partnering with governments, health providers, and local community-based organisations to reimagine healthcare systems for adolescent girls across sub-Saharan Africa. Tiko turns fragmented services into a single, integrated ecosystem of accessible care for girls at risk of unintended pregnancy, HIV, and sexual violenceābuilt around their lives and their choices.
Tiko started its project implementation in Addis Ababa in 2018 and is now expanding to Hawassa city in 2026. To ensure community engagement and effective awareness in the Sidama Region, Stichting Tiko is soliciting proposals from qualified service providers to translate, culturally adapt, and proofread project materials.
Scope of Work
The selected service provider will deliver accurate, culturally sensitive, and contextualized translations of the following materials:
- Training & Educational Manuals:Ā Operational guides, peer-educator manuals, and handbooks on SGBV, HIV, and SRH.
- Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Materials:Ā Leaflets, flyers, z-cards, brochures, posters, and community engagement toolkits.
- Surveys & Monitoring Tools:Ā Data collection tools, consent forms, beneficiary feedback mechanisms, and referral pathways.
Key Responsibilities
- Initial Translation:Ā Translate texts accurately while preserving the technical tone regarding legal, medical, and psychosocial aspects.
- Cultural Adaptation & Localization:Ā Adapt sensitive terminology into culturally appropriate, respectful, and easily understandable Sidamu Afoo idioms without losing critical meaning.
- Proofreading & Validation:Ā Conduct secondary review and quality control via an independent proofreader/linguist.
Expected Deliverables
- Clean, fully proofread, final translated documents in editable digital format (MS Word) adhering to original formatting.
Qualification & Eligibility Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Legal Registration:Ā Valid business license/registration in Ethiopia (for firms) or tax identification (for individual lead consultants).
- Linguistic Expertise:Ā Native-level fluency in Sidamu Afoo with professional proficiency in Amharic and English.
- Domain Experience:Ā Proven track record of translating materials related to human rights, public health, SGBV, SRHR, or social protection.
- Quality Assurance Process:Ā Clear multi-step process for translation, editing, and proofreading.
- Capacity:Ā Ability to deliver within agreed tight deadlines without compromising quality.
Proposal Submission Guidelines
Interested applicants must submit bothĀ TechnicalĀ andĀ FinancialĀ proposals.
Technical Proposal Must Include:
- Company profile or CV(s) of lead translator(s) and proofreader(s).
- Demonstrated past performance (at least 2 reference letters or previous client contact details for similar work).
- Proposed methodology, quality control plan, and work schedule.
- A short sample translation (1 page) provided upon request during the shortlisting stage.
Financial Proposal Must Include:
- Itemized cost breakdown per word or per document/page rate (inclusive of all applicable taxes).
