About the Role

MSF-Belgium is seeking a Transport & Customs Officer to support logistics operations in Addis Ababa. This role ensures smooth clearance, transportation, and delivery of medical and non-medical goods in line with MSF protocols. The officer will coordinate shipments, manage customs processes, and maintain compliance with Ethiopian import/export regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily clearance and transportation of goods according to MSF standards.
  • Plan and manage shipments with the Transport & Customs Supervisor and Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Oversee reception of international freight and ensure timely forwarding to field projects.
  • Handle customs documentation, liaise with clearing agents, and maintain compliance with local regulations.
  • Assess local transport providers (pricing, services, delays) and recommend reliable partners.
  • Supervise loading/unloading operations and ensure goods are received in good condition.
  • Prepare transport documents (Packing List, Release Note, Freight Manifest) and ensure proper archiving.
  • Inform consignees of dispatch details and estimated arrival times.
  • Support preparation of monthly transport and customs reports.
  • Attend logistics and freight management meetings as required.

Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Logistics, Transport, or Customs Management (essential).

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience in supply chain, logistics, customs clearance, or transportation.
  • Strong background in imports, exports, and customs procedures.

Skills & Competencies

  • Fluency in English (essential); knowledge of local languages is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Teamwork, collaboration, and flexibility.
  • Commitment to MSF principles and service orientation.

Salary & Benefits
