Job Summary
The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is seeking to recruit two Research Officer II professionals to support research activities in development economics and agricultural economics.
The successful candidates will contribute to research design, impact assessments, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and policy research aligned with IFPRI’s mission to reduce poverty, end hunger, and improve food systems. IFPRI is a member of the CGIAR global research partnership.
Key Responsibilities
- Support research under the Future Food Systems Program and related CGIAR initiatives
- Contribute to impact assessment studies, including gender and social protection research
- Design and manage household surveys and qualitative research (focus group discussions and key informant interviews)
- Conduct statistical and econometric analysis
- Process and synthesize primary and secondary datasets
- Prepare research reports, policy briefs, journal articles, and presentation materials
- Organize workshops, seminars, and learning events
- Review impact study designs and completed reports
- Disseminate research findings to government authorities and donors
- Support administrative coordination of research projects
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Master’s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of impact evaluation methods and research design
Experience
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience
- Experience in seed systems, agricultural extension, or technology adoption research
- Experience managing large household surveys
- Proven experience writing research reports and publications
- Experience in organizing academic or policy events
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Stata (required)
- Knowledge of R and/or SAS (advantageous)
- Strong quantitative and econometric analysis skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Knowledge of GIS and remote sensing (preferred)
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally
Terms of Appointment
This is a National Staff (NS) position.
Initial contract duration: One year, renewable based on performance and funding availability.
The remuneration package includes competitive salary and benefits in accordance with ILRI policies for nationally recruited staff, including medical insurance and pension benefits. The duty station is based at the ILRI campus in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
