UNICEF Internship Opportunity 2026

UNICEF’s Office of Innovation is offering a Venture Fund Internship for students and recent graduates interested in innovation, global development, technology, research, knowledge management, and portfolio support.

The internship provides an opportunity to work with UNICEF’s innovation team and support initiatives involving early-stage, open-source technology solutions designed to improve outcomes for children and communities.

The position is based in Stockholm, Sweden, with the possibility of working in person or remotely, as specified in the vacancy.

Key Responsibilities

The Venture Fund Intern will support the UNICEF Office of Innovation in areas including:

  1. Startup sourcing and evaluation
    • Support market scoping and research.
    • Assist with application reviews and evaluation notes.
    • Help maintain startup and investment pipeline information.
  2. Knowledge management and communications
    • Prepare briefs, presentations, and other knowledge materials.
    • Support the development of website and communication content.
  3. Resource mobilization
    • Assist with case studies and briefing materials.
    • Support preparation of communication materials related to resource mobilization.
  4. Portfolio management
    • Maintain portfolio trackers and related data.
    • Organize portfolio information and prepare updates.
  5. Country office engagement
    • Support outreach activities with UNICEF country offices.
    • Prepare meeting summaries and follow-up materials.
  6. Strategic projects
    • Contribute to projects focused on scaling promising technology solutions with UNICEF country offices and partners.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Be currently enrolled in, or have recently graduated within the last two years from, a relevant degree program.
  • Relevant fields include Social or Economic Development, Business Administration, Political Science, Economics, Innovation, Public Administration, or related disciplines.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good interpersonal and collaboration skills, particularly in multicultural environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of other UN languages, including French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, or Chinese, is an asset.
  • Minimum age: 18 years.

Internship Conditions

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Schedule: Part-time
  • Stipend: Monthly stipend provided, unless the internship is supported by a third party.
  • Interns must have their own laptop and internet access.
  • Proof of medical insurance is required.
  • Travel and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern.
  • Completion of the internship does not create an expectation of employment with UNICEF.
