Position: Coordinator – Market Systems Development
Role Purpose:
Coordinate and implement Market Systems Development (MSD) activities in Ethiopia, ensuring inclusive, sustainable, and market‑led solutions. The role involves engaging private sector actors, producer organizations, financial institutions, and government stakeholders to strengthen livelihoods and promote systemic change.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Coordination & Implementation
- Coordinate MSD activities in line with project objectives, budgets, and donor requirements.
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and ensure timely corrective actions.
- Maintain effective coordination with partners and stakeholders.
2. Market Systems & Partnership Development
- Engage private sector actors, producer groups, and financial institutions.
- Design inclusive market‑based interventions addressing systemic constraints.
- Build partnerships that create shared value and scalable outcomes.
- Conduct market systems analysis and develop intervention strategies.
3. Technical Support & Adaptive Management
- Apply facilitative MSD approaches (M4P) to stimulate systemic change.
- Support intervention design, testing, and adaptation based on evidence.
- Collaborate with MEAL teams to track results and document learning.
- Promote inclusion, resilience, and sustainability in market systems.
4. Partner & Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent WHH with private sector, government, and NGOs.
- Support partner identification, onboarding, and monitoring.
- Leverage private sector investment and co‑investment models.
- Address enabling environment constraints with government institutions.
5. Reporting & Compliance
- Support project planning, budget monitoring, and reporting.
- Ensure documentation meets donor and organizational standards.
- Contribute to program reviews, learning processes, and proposal development.
- Document and share lessons learned and best practices.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Economics, Cooperative Management, Social Enterprise, Finance, Agriculture, or related fields.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in market development, private sector engagement, or value chain development (INGO, consultancy, development program, or private sector).
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of MSD approaches (M4P, facilitative models)
- Experience with private sector actors, cooperatives, and producer groups
- Project coordination and stakeholder management
- Strong communication, planning, and relationship management skills
- Fluency in English and Amharic
- Knowledge of Ethiopian private sector landscape highly desirable
