Summary
World Vision Ethiopia is seeking a Development Officer to lead and oversee community development programs in Chilga. This role focuses on child protection, gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI), Saving for Transformation (S4T), livelihood and economic empowerment, and growth monitoring. The position is ideal for professionals with strong experience in community development, program implementation, and partnership management.
About the Role
The Development Officer plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and monitoring community development programs that improve the well‑being of individuals and communities. The role requires collaboration with community members, local organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to address poverty, child protection, gender equality, and social inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation
- Lead implementation of S4T, Empower World View, and Livelihood & Economic Inclusion programs
- Integrate GEDSI principles into all program activities
- Support child protection initiatives and awareness campaigns
- Oversee growth monitoring programs to improve child health and nutrition outcomes
- Ensure alignment with organizational and donor requirements
Community Engagement & Capacity Building
- Build strong relationships with community members and stakeholders
- Conduct training sessions on child protection, GEDSI, and livelihood programs
- Support formation of community‑based structures such as CP&A Groups and Savings Groups
- Promote community‑led initiatives for empowerment and inclusion
Partnership & Collaboration
- Establish partnerships with local government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations
- Collaborate to leverage resources and scale successful interventions
- Represent the organization in relevant meetings and forums
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Develop and implement monitoring frameworks
- Collect and analyze data to measure program effectiveness
- Prepare timely reports for stakeholders and donors
- Document best practices and lessons learned
Advocacy & Awareness
- Advocate for policy changes supporting child protection and gender equality
- Conduct awareness campaigns on child rights and economic inclusion
- Engage media and communication channels to amplify program impact
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Gender Studies, or related field
- Master’s degree is an advantage
Professional Experience
- Minimum 5 years in community development, child protection, or livelihood programs
- Proven experience in GEDSI‑responsive programming
- Strong understanding of S4T, Empower World View, and Growth Monitoring Programs
- Excellent project management, monitoring, and evaluation skills
