Purpose of the Job  

The position holder is responsible for transporting staff, visitors, or errands to their destination based on requests and conform safety and traffic regulations in order to contribute to timely and safely arrival. Coordinates fleet management and ensures regular maintenance of vehicles, including information on vehicle insurances and taxes.

Job Description

  • Have end responsibility for the use of the car, clean and fuel vehicle, check inventory (e.g. first aid kit, spare tire, etc.) and the status of the vehicle, identify any damage and report these to the supervisor, arrange and keep track of periodical service schedule and insurance.
  • Drive passengers or deliver errands within the identified areas, following the traffic regulations, safety instructions, and situations, and based on the travel arrangements of the passengers and/or delivery requirements.
  • Regularly check and maintain the main maintenance areas (e.g., oil, tire pressure, etc.), identify technical malfunctions, check potential repair alternatives, conduct repairs to the vehicles, and/or send for repair in consultation with the supervisor in case of complex and/or costly repair.
  • Keep a logbook of all driving activities, fuel, and any incidents and accidents.
  • Ensure insurances and taxes of vehicles are up to date.
  • Execute activities to support others based on request, like assist in logistic activities or supporting the maintenance of the building.
  • Pick up and deliver messages, documents, packages, and other items between offices or departments within an establishment or directly to other business concerns, based on requests.
  • Conform safety and traffic regulations, in order to arrive in a timely and safe manner.
  • Plan transport, coordinate drivers, contact and contract suppliers and garages for maintenance and services, ensure valid insurances for the fleet, and check and document valid driver licenses of all persons driving SNV vehicles.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification and Experience

  • 12th or 10th grade complete and at least five years of experience as a Driver.

Additional Skills

  • Must have a 3rd-grade renewed and valid driving license.
  • Having a diploma in auto mechanics is an advantage.
  • Technical knowledge of vehicles and basic maintenance.
  • Experience in an INGO environment is preferable.
  • Be reliable, punctual, committed, and self-motivated.

Additional Information

Contract Type: National, Full-time

Expected start date: As soon as possible

Duty Station: Hawassa

Contract Duration: One year with the possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability.
