📌 Job Purpose

The Commodity Dispatcher is responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely movement of food commodities from storage facilities to distribution points. This includes planning dispatch schedules, coordinating with transport providers, monitoring inventory, and resolving logistical issues to ensure that emergency food aid reaches beneficiaries in good condition.


✅ Major Responsibilities

  • Coordinating Dispatch Operations: Plan schedules, align shipments with program needs, and coordinate transport providers.
  • Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of shipments (type, quantity, destination, and dispatch date) for transparency and compliance.
  • Quality Control & Inspection: Check commodities for spoilage, contamination, or damage before dispatch. Document and resolve quality issues.
  • Communication & Coordination: Share dispatch schedules, verify stock availability, oversee proper loading and packaging, and resolve stock discrepancies.
  • Reporting & Issue Resolution: Record delays, losses, or damages in food shipments and prepare detailed reports for compliance with donor and program requirements.

🎓 Required Qualifications

  • Education: Degree, certificate, or accomplishment in a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years in relief and/or emergency response program implementation in similar roles.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Proficiency in inventory management and documentation.
    • Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • Ability to work under pressure in emergency response contexts.
    • Experience in logistics and supply chain management.
