3iS is a non-profit organization providing information management services to humanitarian and development partners. Through advanced data systems, we help target assistance to vulnerable populations and strengthen local authorities’ capacity for autonomous information management.

Position: AI Engineer

Scope of Work:
The AI Engineer will design, develop, and maintain web-based platforms and applications that support humanitarian information management and data analysis. The role involves building end-to-end digital systems (frontend, backend, APIs, databases) to enable efficient collection, processing, visualization, and reporting of humanitarian data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Disaster Prevention & Alert System Dashboard.
  • Integrate AI/ML models for predictive analytics and anticipatory action.
  • Automate reporting with Natural Language Generation (NLG).
  • Develop high-resolution GIS-based risk vs. response maps.
  • Build dashboards for response tracking and operational monitoring.
  • Facilitate AI-focused capacity building and training sessions.
  • Mentor humanitarian staff on AI tools and information management practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in full-stack development.
  • Proven experience in web applications, dashboards, and data-driven platforms.
  • Skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, HTML/CSS, React/Angular/Vue, Node.js/Django/Flask/FastAPI.
  • Database expertise: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch.
  • Cloud & DevOps: AWS/Azure/Google Cloud, Docker, CI/CD.
  • Data visualization: Power BI, Tableau, GIS.
  • Strong knowledge of secure software practices and compliance.
  • Experience with humanitarian data systems is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English required.
