About African Parks Network

African Parks is a conservation organization managing national parks and protected areas across Africa. In Ethiopia, the network operates aviation services to support conservation, logistics, and park management. Aircraft pilots play a critical role in ensuring safe operations, aerial support, and compliance with aviation standards.


Position: Aircraft Pilot (Re‑advertised)

Job Overview

The pilot will operate and manage aircraft activities within designated parks/regions, reporting to the Aviation Supervisor and Park Managers. Relocation to other African Parks sites may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct safe and professional flight operations.
  • Manage aircraft care, facilities, hangars, and aviation infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and African Parks SOPs.
  • Maintain aviation documentation and reporting.
  • Provide logistics support, including permits, fuel, oil, and parts.
  • Implement aviation safety and risk management practices.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid Commercial Pilot’s License (current).
  • Valid Class I Aviation Medical Certificate.
  • Rated and current on applicable aircraft type(s).
  • CRM & DG current; Pilot Proficiency Check current.
  • No accidents in the last 3 years.
  • Minimum 1,500 hours PIC on rotor wing aircraft.
  • Minimum 500 hours on turbine rotor wing aircraft.
  • Conservation or bush flying experience.
  • Ability to work in remote and isolated areas.

Additional/Beneficial Qualifications

  • UH‑1 series rating and experience.
  • Valid Instructor’s rating.
  • Military background in high‑risk areas.
  • Mechanical or technical background.
  • Survey/surveillance experience.
