About the Programme
The Making the Transition to English (MTE) Project is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The programme supports Ethiopia's transition to English as the Medium of Instruction (EMI) for Grades 7 and 8 by strengthening teacher capacity and professional development systems.
The project aims to:
- Improve teachers' English language proficiency.
- Strengthen teaching and learning practices.
- Develop sustainable teacher professional development systems.
- Build national capacity for continuous professional development (CPD).
The programme plans to develop:
- 100 National Expert Trainers (NETs).
- More than 7,000 Transformation Coaches who will support approximately 36,000 teachers across Ethiopia.
The British Council intends to engage up to six International Expert Trainers (IETs) for this initiative.
2. Arts Project Manager

- Experience using technology in project delivery.
- Understanding of monitoring and evaluation processes.

- Knowledge of arts trends and practices in the United Kingdom.
