1. International Expert Trainer

Job Information

  • Position: International Expert Trainer
  • Programme: Making the Transition to English (MTE)
  • Location: Ethiopia (with some remote delivery from the trainer's home location)
  • Primary Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
  • Employment Type: Consultancy Agreement (Independent Consultant / Non-Permanent Worker)

About the Programme

The Making the Transition to English (MTE) Project is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The programme supports Ethiopia's transition to English as the Medium of Instruction (EMI) for Grades 7 and 8 by strengthening teacher capacity and professional development systems.

The project aims to:

  • Improve teachers' English language proficiency.
  • Strengthen teaching and learning practices.
  • Develop sustainable teacher professional development systems.
  • Build national capacity for continuous professional development (CPD).

The programme plans to develop:

  • 100 National Expert Trainers (NETs).
  • More than 7,000 Transformation Coaches who will support approximately 36,000 teachers across Ethiopia.

The British Council intends to engage up to six International Expert Trainers (IETs) for this initiative.


2. Arts Project Manager

Job Information

  • Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Required Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.

Essential Experience

  • Knowledge of current trends within at least one arts or creative industry sector.
  • Experience managing national arts or creative industry projects.
  • Experience managing projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Experience working with external stakeholders.
  • Experience using technology in project delivery.
  • Understanding of monitoring and evaluation processes.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of arts trends and practices in the United Kingdom.
  • Experience working on international arts projects.

3. Project Officer NFE

Job Information

  • Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
  • Application Deadline: 11 August 2026 (23:59 IST)

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree (desirable).

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting programmes or projects.
  • Administrative and financial administration experience.
  • Understanding of monitoring and evaluation principles and their role in project management.

Language Requirements

  • English
  • Amharic

General Requirements

Depending on the position, applicants should demonstrate relevant education and experience in education, teacher training, project management, arts, creative industries, administration, monitoring and evaluation, or related fields. Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills are desirable.
