About the Role
The Finance & HR Officer will manage both financial operations (budgeting, forecasting, payroll, compliance) and HR functions (recruitment, induction, employee data management, benefits, and performance). The role requires navigating Sudan’s complex financial and HR environment while ensuring BOS operations align with FCDO standards.
Key Responsibilities
Finance
- Lead financial transition from the former British Embassy Khartoum
- Forecast and monitor monthly budget spends
- Manage BOS accounts and liaise with stakeholders and regional hubs
- Monitor sanctions policies and banking requirements
- Ensure compliance with financial procedures and reporting standards
- Prepare monthly management reports for decision‑making
- Conduct asset verification and risk reporting
HR
- Maintain HR databases and generate employee metrics
- Support recruitment processes and assessment centres
- Coordinate onboarding and induction programs
- Manage employee benefits, payroll, and contracts
- Address HR queries and ensure timely resolution
- Compile corporate risk register and support assurance processes
- Provide resilience support to the wider Corporate Team
Dual Function
- Navigate challenges in Sudan’s finance and HR sectors
- Align HR investments with financial realities (e.g., recruitment costs, training budgets)
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- University degree in Finance, HR Management, Business Management, or related fields
- Minimum 3 years managerial experience in Finance or HR (international organisations, embassies, or private sector)
- Strong knowledge of finance or HR practices, with ability to learn the other discipline quickly
Desirable
- Experience in both Finance and HR roles
- Knowledge of Sudanese banking and HR regulations
- Proficiency in finance and HR IT systems
