We are pleased to announce a 2026 senior‑level career opportunity with the Center for Innovative Drug Development and Therapeutic Trials for Africa (CDT‑Africa), part of Addis Ababa University. The organization is recruiting a Project Coordinator to manage and oversee the AVATAR therapy project in collaboration with King’s College London, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, and other partners. Based in Addis Ababa, this full‑time role requires 5–8 years of experience and focuses on coordinating qualitative studies, supervising data collection, and supporting international research collaborations.

Open Positions

Position 1: Project Coordinator – AVATAR Therapy Project

  • Employment Type: Full‑time
  • Job Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
  • Contract Duration: As per project terms (initial assignment linked to AVATAR therapy project)
  • Eligibility: Open to qualified Ethiopian professionals

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee study activities in collaboration with AVATAR investigators
  • Conduct regular field visits to ensure smooth project implementation
  • Ensure adherence to standardized operating procedures for data collection and management
  • Supervise study staff and ensure compliance with ethical research practices
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders to support study implementation
  • Organize and conduct training sessions and workshops
  • Lead documentation of adaptation processes and qualitative research activities
  • Support dissemination of research findings and project deliverables
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Project PI and investigators

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Master’s degree (MSc or MA) in a health‑related or social science discipline, completed with a thesis
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a research assistant, coordinator, or similar role, including 2 years on university‑led projects
  • Technical Skills: Experience in pilot and feasibility studies, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and collaboration with international partners
  • Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, communication, and ability to work with diverse teams

Preferred / Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with Addis Ababa University or similar institutions
  • Familiarity with qualitative data collection tools (interviews, FGDs)
  • Willingness to travel to study sites as required
