About CorpsAfrica
CorpsAfrica offers young Africans the opportunity to serve as Volunteers for ten months in underserved rural communities. Volunteers facilitate small‑scale, high‑impact projects identified by local people and funded by partners across Africa and globally.
Role Description
CorpsAfrica Volunteers:
- Complete six weeks of Pre‑Service Training.
- Serve for ten months in a rural community selected based on need, local partnerships, and infrastructure.
- Live and work alongside local people to identify community concerns.
- Co‑create, design, and implement solutions with local partners.
- Monitor and evaluate project outcomes.
- Submit regular reports and presentations.
General Expectations
Volunteers are expected to:
- Commit to serving in underserved rural communities in Ethiopia.
- Serve where assigned, even under hardship conditions.
- Build trust and confidence with host communities.
- Maintain professional conduct and represent CorpsAfrica responsibly.
- Engage with partners respectfully and cooperatively.
- Protect their health, safety, and well‑being.
- Respect the cultures, values, and traditions of host communities and fellow Volunteers.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be Ethiopian citizens.
- Be 21 years of age or older at the start of service.
- Hold a university degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Be physically and emotionally able to serve for one year in rural/remote communities.
- Have no criminal record or conflicts of interest.
- Understand that volunteerism is altruistic, without expectation of financial gain.
- Sign the CorpsAfrica Volunteer Liability Waiver.
