Job Responsibilities
The Junior Geotechnical Engineer will support the engineering team with:
- Reviewing geotechnical investigation reports, borehole logs, and laboratory or field test results.
- Assisting with soil-profile interpretation and preparation of geotechnical data summaries.
- Supporting foundation design and calculations, including bearing capacity, settlement, and soil pressure.
- Assisting with shallow, raft, pile, and retaining-related foundation design under supervision.
- Participating in soil investigation, foundation, excavation, and compaction activities at project sites.
- Preparing calculation sheets, technical notes, site reports, and other project documentation.
- Supporting geotechnical and foundation optimization studies.
- Coordinating with structural engineers, site teams, laboratories, and consultants when required.
- Developing knowledge of geotechnical engineering software, applicable standards, and design practices.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field.

0–2 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong academic performance, particularly in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering.
- Basic knowledge of geotechnical investigation, foundation design, bearing capacity, and settlement analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and AutoCAD.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn, work under supervision, and travel to project sites.
Additional Skills and Knowledge
The following are considered advantages:
- Knowledge of Eurocode 7 and Ethiopian Building Codes.
- Exposure to PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar geotechnical engineering software.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
- Technical training related to construction or civil engineering.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly.
- Social media and digital communication skills.
