Position: Finance Assistant / Cashier
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET) is seeking a Finance Assistant to support its finance and accounting operations. This role involves managing petty cash, processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with organizational and government financial regulations.
Qualifications

Education: Diploma or BA Degree in Accounting from a recognized college or university.

Experience:

Diploma holders: Minimum 2 years relevant work experience.

BA Degree holders: No prior experience required.

Skills:

Basic computer skills.

Proficiency in Peachtree Accounting Software.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
-
Handle and control petty cash and cash on hand.
-
Manage warehouse operations and maintain small store organization.
-
Prepare petty cash replenishment and establishment reports.

Allocate account numbers on cheques, CPVs, and CRVs.

Record and post transactions according to budget lines and chart of accounts.

Verify expenditure requests for proper documentation and account allocation.

Record transactions daily in appropriate registers and reconcile at month-end.

Ensure petty cash reports match analysis sheets.

Check receivables against documents and outstanding statements.

Post receivable & payable accounts in subsidiary ledgers daily.

Prepare income tax, pension contributions, and withholding tax documentation as per Ethiopian law.

Process and pay approved payments.
