1. Africa Conference & Regional Platform Coordinator
Location: Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, or Zimbabwe

Contract: Fixed-term, 18 months, with scope to extend subject to funding

About the Position
The Africa Conference & Regional Platform Coordinator will lead the day-to-day coordination and delivery of the Africa Ageing Conference and provide coordination and implementation support to the Africa Coordination Mechanism.
The role will translate strategic direction and partner decisions into clear plans, coordinated processes, effective meetings, and timely follow-up.
Key Responsibilities
Africa Ageing Conference
- Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of the Africa Ageing Conference.
- Coordinate workplans, milestones, dependencies, and delivery schedules.
- Support Conference governance, planning groups, and technical workstreams.
- Monitor progress, risks, issues, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate partner engagement, meetings, consultations, documentation, and follow-up.
- Support post-Conference follow-up and implementation of agreed commitments.
Africa Coordination Mechanism
- Support the operation and development of the Africa Coordination Mechanism.
- Coordinate meetings, consultations, learning exchanges, and working sessions.
- Support engagement with network members, national and sub-regional platforms, older people's organisations, and regional partners.
- Coordinate follow-up on agreed priorities, decisions, and commitments.
- Connect network priorities, regional platforms, Conference planning, and wider influencing opportunities.
Knowledge Management and Reporting
- Track decisions, actions, commitments, learning, and implementation progress.
- Coordinate reporting against agreed priorities and milestones.
- Capture and synthesize learning, good practices, and recommendations.
- Support reports, briefings, knowledge products, and partner communications.
- Work with the Africa Resource Mobilisation & Partnerships Manager on Conference plans, resource requirements, fundraising, sponsorship, and partner engagement.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in International Development, Public Policy, International Relations, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Event or Conference Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Substantial experience coordinating complex regional, multi-country, or multi-stakeholder programmes, networks, partnerships, or convenings.
- Experience coordinating regional or international conferences, major events, policy forums, or multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Strong project coordination skills, including work planning, action tracking, meeting coordination, stakeholder follow-up, and risk or issue escalation.
- Experience working with civil society networks, membership organisations, regional platforms, or multi-partner coalitions.
- Excellent written communication and information-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to coordinate senior stakeholders and partners across institutions, countries, and cultures.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and work across time zones.
- Fluency in English.
Desirable
- Knowledge of African Union, Regional Economic Community, or UN coordination structures.
- Experience with African regional institutions, government stakeholders, UN agencies, development partners, or international organisations.
- Knowledge of ageing, demographic change, health and care, social protection, human rights, gender, climate resilience, humanitarian action, or inclusive development.
- Experience coordinating technical working groups, regional platforms, conference programmes, partner roundtables, or high-level events.
- Experience supporting sponsorship or donor-engagement processes.
- French, Portuguese, or Arabic language skills.

About the Position
The MEAL Officer will support the quality, effectiveness, accountability, and learning of HelpAge's global programmes, advocacy initiatives, and organisational performance.
The role will coordinate and provide technical input into monitoring and evaluation frameworks, performance measurement, rapid needs assessments, evaluations, organisational learning, planning, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Coordinate and provide technical input into M&E frameworks and tools.
- Support teams in defining indicators, setting baselines, and tracking outcomes.
- Coordinate results frameworks, log frames, indicators, baselines, and targets.
- Develop data sources, data-collection methodologies, and evidence requirements.
- Support standardisation of KPI measurement across Impact Vehicles.
- Coordinate organisation-wide performance tracking.
- Contribute to MEAL policies, procedures, standards, and guidance.
Technical MEAL Support
- Provide technical MEAL advice and quality assurance across global programmes.
- Support programme teams and Network Members throughout programme design, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and learning.
- Support advocacy teams in measuring campaign, policy engagement, and partnership outcomes.
- Develop approaches for monitoring policy change, stakeholder influence, and advocacy impact.
Accountability and Participation
- Provide guidance on participatory monitoring approaches.
- Support meaningful inclusion of older people and marginalised groups.
- Strengthen feedback and response systems.
- Analyse feedback data and support adaptive programming.
- Promote transparency, responsiveness, and accountability.
Learning and Knowledge Sharing
- Coordinate learning reviews, after-action reviews, and reflection processes.
- Document and disseminate learning, good practices, and innovations.
- Facilitate learning events, webinars, and communities of practice.
Rapid Needs Assessments
- Act as the technical focal point for rapid needs assessments.
- Maintain methodologies, tools, standards, and guidance.
- Advise on sampling, data collection, questionnaire design, analysis, and quality assurance.
- Coordinate technical inputs and quality assurance for assessment reports.
Evaluation and Evidence Generation
- Support evaluations of short-term projects.
- Advise on evaluation approaches, methodologies, and design.
- Provide technical quality assurance on evaluation processes and deliverables.
- Support evaluation terms of reference and methodologies.
- Coordinate dissemination and use of evaluation findings.
Capacity Strengthening
- Design and deliver MEAL training and support.
- Develop guidance, templates, and toolkits.
- Build capacity for adaptive management and evidence-based decision-making.
Planning and Reporting
- Support annual business planning and organisational and donor reporting cycles.
- Coordinate and review inputs from teams across functions and regions.
- Support effective use of data in organisational planning and reporting.
- Contribute MEAL insights to fundraising, donor reporting, and strategic planning.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Significant experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) within international development, humanitarian, or advocacy-focused organisations.
- Advanced knowledge of MEAL principles.
- Experience designing M&E frameworks, theories of change, indicators, and MEL plans.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis skills.
- Experience applying MEL in advocacy, campaigning, or policy-influencing settings.
- Experience coordinating donor or organisational reporting.
- Experience coordinating multi-team planning, performance measurement, or reporting processes.
- Knowledge of accountability principles and experience with feedback, complaints, and response mechanisms.
- Strong facilitation and MEAL training skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-specialist audiences.
- Ability to work across diverse teams and cultural contexts.
- Familiarity with digital data collection and analysis tools such as Power BI, Kobo Toolbox, DHIS2, and Excel.
- Experience coordinating rapid needs assessments in humanitarian contexts.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Flexibility to work across different time zones.
- Understanding of and commitment to Partner Led Programming.

- Spanish, French, Arabic, or other additional language skills.
