About iDE
International Development Enterprises (iDE) is an international NGO working to create income and livelihood opportunities for poor rural households in Ethiopia. iDE implements development projects across six national regional states: Amhara, Oromia, South Ethiopia, Southwest Ethiopia, Somali, and Tigray.
Position Summary
The GESI Expert will provide technical support to programs implemented using a Market Systems Development (MSD) approach. The role ensures that gender equality and social inclusion principles are effectively integrated into agricultural and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programs.
Key Responsibilities
- GESI Integration & Strategy Development
- Review and strengthen gender and social inclusion integration in MSD, agriculture, and WASH programs.
- Provide tools and recommendations for inclusive program design.
- Technical Advisory Support
- Guide program teams to embed gender-transformative and socially inclusive approaches.
- Ensure inclusivity across interventions, partnerships, and market actor engagement.
- Capacity Building
- Design and deliver training, coaching, and mentoring on GESI principles.
- Build staff and partner capacity in MSD, agriculture, and WASH sectors.
- Analysis & Assessment
- Conduct gender and social inclusion analyses.
- Identify barriers for women and marginalized groups and propose solutions.
- Monitoring, Learning & Reporting
- Integrate GESI indicators into MERL frameworks.
- Document lessons learned and best practices.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Rural Development, Social Psychology, or related field.
- Proven hands-on experience in GESI within Market Systems Development programs.
- Practical experience in agricultural and/or WASH programs.
- Strong understanding of gender-transformative approaches and inclusive market systems.
- Experience conducting gender analysis and developing actionable recommendations.
- Excellent facilitation, training, analytical, and report writing skills.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel to field locations.
