Open Positions

Position 1: Driver – Light Vehicles

  • Employment Type: Full-time, Fixed-Term Contract (1 year, with possibility of extension)
  • Job Location: Nekemte, Ethiopia
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate light vehicles in compliance with national traffic laws and ICRC safety and security regulations.
  • Transport staff, goods, and equipment during town movements and field assignments.
  • Maintain assigned vehicles in clean, functional, and fully equipped condition.
  • Monitor vehicle logbooks, fuel usage, odometer readings, and mandatory checklists.
  • Report mechanical issues, incidents, and discrepancies to the Car Dispatcher.
  • Support mechanics during complex maintenance and repair activities.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of cargo and personal effects.
  • Handle waybills and shipping documents according to established procedures.
  • Operate HF and VHF radio communication equipment in line with ICRC protocols.
  • Remain alert to security conditions and immediately report unusual situations.
  • Support spare parts inventory management in coordination with the warehousing team.
  • Act as an interpreter when required and maintain professional appearance and hygiene.
Required Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Technical school diploma or equivalent practical experience at high-school level.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar driving role.
  • Demonstrated experience in basic automobile maintenance activities.

Technical Skills

  • Valid Ethiopian driving license (minimum 3rd Grade or equivalent).
  • Basic mechanical knowledge, including oil checks and tire changes.
  • Strong familiarity with the assigned geographic area.

Soft Skills

  • High level of safety awareness and accountability.
  • Clear communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under operational guidelines and supervision.
Language Requirements
  • Excellent command of Amharic and Afan Oromo.
  • Basic working knowledge of English.
