Position 1: Protection‑MHPSS Officer

Duty Station: Harar, Bordede Woreda

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the WPE/CP Program Manager, the Protection‑MHPSS Officer ensures quality implementation of integrated GBV/CP and mental health & psychosocial support activities. The role focuses on case management, psychological interventions, community‑based MHPSS, and strengthening referral pathways for survivors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct CP/GBV/MHPSS assessments and implement survivor‑centered interventions.
  • Manage GBV cases, supervise social workers, and train frontline staff.
  • Facilitate SH+ group psychological sessions and monitor outcomes.
  • Ensure safe documentation of GBV incidents using GBVIMS tools.
  • Strengthen coordination with health, legal, and psychosocial partners.
  • Support Women & Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) activities and empowerment programs.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/BSc/MSc in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, Nursing, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years (Diploma), 2 years (BSc), or 1 year (MSc) relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of GBV guiding principles, trauma‑informed care, and community mobilization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; NGO experience is an advantage.

Position 2: Environmental Health Officer

Duty Station: Harar, East Hararge Zone

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Hygiene Promotion Officer, the Environmental Health Officer leads emergency WASH responses, water supply rehabilitation, and sanitation facility construction. The role involves technical design, supervision, and coordination with government and community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct rapid EH/WASH assessments and prepare engineering designs.
  • Supervise construction/rehabilitation of water schemes (boreholes, wells, rainwater harvesting).
  • Monitor water trucking operations and ensure water quality testing per WHO standards.
  • Coordinate with local water and health offices for efficient response.
  • Train water committees and user associations on scheme management.
  • Prepare detailed reports and ensure compliance with IRC and donor standards.

Qualifications:

  • Degree/Diploma/Postgraduate in Water Resource, Hydraulics, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years (Degree), 5 years (Diploma), or 1 year (Postgraduate) relevant experience.
  • Practical experience in rural water supply systems, hand pumps, and motorized schemes.
  • Knowledge of SPHERE standards, AutoCAD/EPANET software, and budget management.
  • NGO experience is a plus.
