Lesaffre, a global leader in fermentation with over 11,000 employees across 96 nationalities, is recruiting a Junior Foreign Procurement and Logistics Officer to support its supply chain operations in Ethiopia. This role is critical in managing import operations, supplier relations, and logistics workflows to ensure smooth manufacturing processes.


Position: Junior Foreign Procurement and Logistics Officer

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end‑to‑end import operations (purchase orders, shipping, customs clearance, delivery).
  • Identify, assess, and onboard qualified local and international suppliers.
  • Prepare and maintain import documentation (invoice, packing list, Bill of Lading/Airway Bill, COO, LC documents).
  • Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, clearing agents, and customs authorities.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve procurement issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local/international import laws, company policies, and trade regulations.
  • Track shipment status and resolve delays or discrepancies.
  • Handle LC opening, amendments, and liaise with banks.
  • Compute customs duties, taxes, and landed costs accurately.
  • Maintain proper record keeping for audits and managerial reporting.
  • Evaluate workflows to improve efficiency and control costs.
  • Collaborate with finance, warehouse, and production teams to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing import operations (manufacturing industry experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of customs clearance, HS Codes, Incoterms, and import laws.
  • Experience with ESW system, MS Office, and logistics tools.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage workload under pressure and meet deadlines.
