National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) is inviting qualified applicants to apply for 2 positions in Ethiopia: Administrative Assistant I and Internal Control Officer.

The Administrative Assistant I position is an entry-level opportunity with no prior work experience required, while the Internal Control Officer position requires relevant professional experience depending on the applicant's academic qualification.

1. Administrative Assistant I

Qualification Requirements

  • Education: Diploma in Secretarial Science, Office Administration, Customer Service Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: No prior work experience required.
  • Certification: Level IV CoC required.
  • Age: Not more than 40 years.

Responsibilities

  • Greet, receive, and direct visitors, employees, clients, and external stakeholders professionally.
  • Type, format, and edit reports, correspondence, presentations, and other documents.
  • Organize and maintain physical and electronic files, records, and confidential documents.
  • Support office logistics, stationery, office supplies, and basic equipment follow-up.
  • Organize directorate and team meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes, and circulate meeting reports and action points.
  • Receive, record, screen, and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Draft routine letters, memos, and internal communications as instructed.
  • Follow up on outgoing correspondence to ensure timely dispatch and delivery.
  • Register, track, and file incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Produce, reproduce, and distribute official documents and materials.
  • Provide administrative assistance and guidance to visitors and staff.
  • Develop and maintain effective filing and document-tracking systems.
  • Support basic data entry, record updating, and compilation of administrative information.
  • Maintain confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive documents.
  • Perform other related administrative duties assigned by the supervisor.

2. Internal Control Officer

Qualification Requirements

  • Education: First Degree or above in Management, Business Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Accounting and Auditing, Accounting and Finance, Banking & Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • First Degree: 4 years of relevant work experience
    • Second Degree: 2 years of relevant work experience
    • PhD: 0 years of relevant work experience
  • Of the required experience, 1 year should be at Associate/Assistant level or above.
  • Age: Not more than 40 years.

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly check payment and settlement documents before entry.
  • Ensure payment approvals comply with the Bank's delegation of authority.
  • Review and approve disbursement requests and other requests as assigned.
  • Periodically audit accounting and financial data of various work units.
  • Verify and maintain internal control checks and records.
  • Recommend improvements relating to facilities, equipment, personnel, procedures, and systems for internal control functions.
  • Perform internal control tasks as required or assigned.
  • Support awareness of the Bank's policies and procedures among employees.
  • Identify financial and administrative strengths and weaknesses and develop best practices.
  • Monitor internal controls and advise management on minimizing risks arising from inadequate controls.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
