IOM works with governments, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners to promote humane and orderly migration for the benefit of migrants and societies.
IOM Ethiopia is enhancing its collaboration with private sector stakeholders in line with the Global Compact on Migration (GCM), IOM’s global Private Sector Engagement Strategy (2023–2027), and IOM Ethiopia’s country strategy.
Position: Consultant – Private Sector Engagement
The consultant will support IOM Ethiopia’s Programme Support Unit (PSU) to strengthen private sector engagement, fundraising, and partnership strategies.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

Partnership Mapping & Strategy
-
Develop a comprehensive partnership mapping document, including potential partners, contacts, and outreach strategies.

Deliverable deadline: 1 November 2025.

Private Sector Outreach & Partnerships
-
Conduct initial outreach and secure at least 6 new formal private sector partnerships, including diaspora and migrant-led initiatives.

Deliverable deadline: 10 December 2025.

Final Report
-
Submit a comprehensive final report covering partner data, KPIs, successes, challenges, and recommendations for future strategies.

Deliverable deadline: 15 December 2025.
Performance Indicators

Number of formal private sector partnerships established.

Financial and in-kind contributions secured.

Strategic documents and knowledge products produced.

Quality and alignment of documents with IOM goals.

Updated and comprehensive private sector partner database.

Documented best practices and case studies.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
-
Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Social Sciences, Business, or related fields.
Experience
-
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in partnerships, business/private sector relations, due diligence, and/or risk mitigation.
Skills
-
Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.
-
In-depth understanding of international migration frameworks and Ethiopia’s migration context.
-
Experience in capacity building and institutional strengthening.
-
Knowledge of IOM’s private sector cooperation principles or UN frameworks is an advantage.
Languages
-
Proficiency in English is required.

Knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
Travel
-
Travel within Ethiopia may be required. Expenses (transportation, accommodation, meals) will be covered by IOM, subject to approval.
