Position Overview
The Project Manager provides strategic leadership, planning, implementation, monitoring, and successful delivery of projects. The role ensures projects achieve intended results on time, within scope, within budget, and in compliance with donor agreements and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall strategic and technical leadership for assigned projects
- Lead consolidated project workplans and monitor performance against outputs and outcomes
- Supervise and coach Project Officers, ensuring accountability and improved performance
- Ensure donor compliance, prepare high‑quality narrative reports, and serve as focal point for donor communication
- Coordinate with Finance to monitor budgets, expenditures, and risks
- Integrate Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) systems into project implementation
- Represent the organization in coordination forums with government, donors, and partners
- Identify and mitigate risks, uphold safeguarding and accountability standards
- Document lessons learned, best practices, and contribute to organizational learning
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Project Management, Social Sciences, or related field
- Experience: 7–10 years of progressive NGO/development project management experience; proven track record with donor‑funded projects; supervisory experience with senior program staff
- Managerial Experience: 8–12 years
- Skills: Strategic project management, donor compliance, risk management, team leadership, strong written and verbal communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience managing multi‑project portfolios
- Familiarity with MEAL systems and results‑based management
- Experience working in rural Ethiopian contexts
Digital Competencies
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (planning templates, dashboards, KPI tracking)
- Microsoft Project or equivalent tools
- Workflow management systems (ClickUp, Trello, Asana, Monday.com)
- Cloud‑based collaboration (OneDrive, Google Drive)
- Virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams, Outlook, Gmail)
- Power BI or basic dashboards
- Online forms (Google Forms, Microsoft Forms)
