Position: Partnership & Education Project Coordinator – PlayMatters Project
Role Purpose
The Coordinator will lead the planning, implementation, coordination, and quality assurance of PlayMatters interventions in Bahir Dar. The role ensures effective delivery of play‑based learning activities, strong stakeholder collaboration, and evidence‑based programming aligned with national education priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver project activities within approved budgets and timelines
- Build partnerships with government, education institutions, NGOs, and communities
- Provide technical support, coaching, and mentoring for play‑based learning approaches
- Oversee monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEAL), including digital data systems
- Promote accountability, community engagement, and feedback mechanisms
- Represent Plan International in coordination platforms and advocate for play‑based learning
- Support policy engagement and integration of learning through play into education systems
- Document and share best practices, lessons learned, and success stories
- Monitor partner budgets, review financial reports, and ensure donor compliance
Qualifications & Experience
- BA degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related fields
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in education projects
- Experience in content development/adaptation, teacher training, and disability inclusion
- Strong communication, facilitation, and mentoring skills (English & Amharic)
- Proven experience working with government education systems and humanitarian coordination mechanisms
Desirable:
- Budget and financial management skills
- Knowledge of Learning through Play (LtP) and Ethiopian education systems
- Experience with project monitoring, evaluation, and digital data collection (e.g., CommCare)
- Strong partnership management and representation experience
