About the Project
Population Council Ethiopia is conducting a mixed‑methods research study to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, safety, continuation, and user experience of the Hormonal IUD (HIUD) in public health facilities. The study involves baseline enrollment, follow‑up interviews at 3, 6, and 12 months, qualitative interviews, and limited observational activities.
To support this project, Data Collectors will be recruited to conduct structured interviews with clients, providers, and key informants across selected facilities.
Job Summary
The Data Collector will be responsible for:
- Administering structured questionnaires and follow‑up interviews.
- Ensuring ethical and high‑quality data collection.
- Maintaining confidentiality and participant privacy.
- Collaborating with facility staff and supervisors.
- Reporting to the Field Coordinator / Regional Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection
- Conduct baseline and follow‑up interviews (3, 6, 12 months).
- Record continuation status, side effects, satisfaction, and method switching.
- Administer provider/facility questionnaires.
- Conduct in‑depth interviews (if assigned).
Participant Management
- Verify eligibility and obtain informed consent.
- Maintain respectful, culturally sensitive interactions.
- Track appointments and follow‑up timelines.
Ethics & Confidentiality
- Protect participant data and privacy.
- Report adverse events or sensitive disclosures.
- Follow Do‑No‑Harm procedures.
Coordination & Reporting
- Communicate with providers and supervisors.
- Submit daily completed forms and resolve inconsistencies.
- Participate in debriefings and refresher sessions.
Qualifications
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor’s in Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, or Social Sciences.
- Health Extension background (Level IV+) may be considered with strong experience.
Experience
- 1–2 years in data collection for research, surveys, or evaluations.
- Prior experience in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) or family planning studies preferred.
- Phone‑based data collection experience is an advantage.
Skills
- Fluency in Amharic; local language skills are an asset.
- Afan Oromo required for Oromia region applicants.
- Strong interviewing and interpersonal skills.
- Competence with tablet‑based tools (MQUAD).
- Ability to travel frequently.
